Finished size, flat size, and bleed
The finished size is one closed panel. A side-fold 5 × 7 inch card needs a 10 × 7 inch flat spread; a top-fold card doubles the height instead. Bleed extends backgrounds beyond the trim so a small cutting shift does not leave a white edge.
Use your printer's specification
Many print shops request 0.125 inch or 3 mm bleed and artwork at 300 DPI, but the printer's supplied template always wins. Keep names, messages, logos, and other important content inside the safe area and away from the fold.
